Obtaining Your White Card (Construction Induction Card – Work Safely in the Contstruction Industry CPCCOHS1001A)

In order to work on a construction site or in an area involving building works or construction, it is the employees legal obligation to complete a WorkCover approved course. This course covers issues relating to work site health and safety and how to best ensure the safety of all who enter work sites. It also provides an overview of worker's compensation, and the associated rights and regulations. Students must be a minimum of 14 years of age and need to meet WorkCover ID guidelines in order to take part (see course ID requirements for detailed information).

In NSW, this course must be completed in a classroom environment. The course covers the following four topics;

  • Occupational Health and Safety Legislation
  • How to identify and control construction hazards
  • Occupational Health and Safety communication and reporting procedure
  • Occupational Health and Safety

It is important to note that for this classroom based course, a WorkCover NSW Statement of Training is issued to students immediately upon its successful completion. This allows individuals to begin work immediately, which may not be the case with other various, interstate and online options. Providers are not permitted to issue WorkCover Statements of Training of Construction Induction Cards until they have received certified copies of your ID. While you may receive a Statement of Attainment from online providers (ie a Statement of Attainment issued by a specific training organisation, employers legally require a WorkCover Statement of Training or White Card to allow employees to work on site. Many employers (PCBU’s) are in fact now insisting on participants verifying they have taken the course in a classroom environment given the quality of online courses has proved questionable and not provided the skills and knowledge to work safely within a work site.

Please note that to take part in this course, you must have a reasonable command of English. If you believe you may need assistance with language, literacy or numeracy, please contact us prior to making a booking. All participants will be required to take a very short quiz prior to the commencement of the course in order to demonstrate their proficiency in English and numeracy.
