Note that from the 1st of January 2015, the Australian Government requires anyone who takes educational training to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number to the training organisation they are enrolled with.  Training organisations are not permitted to provide training certificates to a learner until they have provided the USI.

http://www.usi.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx

Please bring your USI with you on the day of training or if you wish, you can contact us prior to your course so that we can update your details in advance of the training.  Remember that without this, we will have to withhold your certificate(s) until your USI is provided.

RMS Apply Traffic Control Plans - Yellow Card

Traffic control is a highly important task. Due to the risks associated with traffic, employees involved in traffic control tasks are legally obliged to have undergone the appropriate training before beginning this work. Undergoing such training is important not only for the individual safety of employees, but is an important safeguard for the public, as well as a means of protecting the liability of a traffic control management companies.

The New South Wales Roads and Maritime Service (NSW RMS) uphold a variety of courses focusing on traffic control training. Many employees undergoing Traffic Control training require Blue and Yellow card certification, which allows them to work in positions relating to controlling traffic with a Stop/Slow bat (Traffic Controller Blue Card), and setting up traffic control sites according to the plans issued (Apply Traffic Control Plans Yellow Card). Other forms of training emphasise the design, inspection, modification and application of these plans (Red & Orange Cards), however these skills are less frequently required by employers and experience with the Blue and Yellow Cards is required to qualify for these additional cards.

Both Yellow and Blue Cards are carried out over the course of one day. Pre requisites for the Yellow Card are the WorkCover approved White Card, while for the Blue Card, a White Card and minimum Green P drivers license is required. The reasoning behind the minimum Green P license is to ensure that individuals intending on controlling traffic on the roads have a reasonable amount of experience themselves as a driver, ensuring that they understand traffic conditions, the mindset of drivers and what it is like behind the wheel of a vehicle.

The Yellow Card training is a classroom based course involving theory only, while the Blue Card training involves both classroom and practical training and assessment.
