White Card Construction: Who needs to do this course?

To work on a building site in Australia it is a requirement that everyone holds a current Construction Induction Card, also known as a 'Green Card' or  'White Card' in NSW.

The White Card is valid for use on all construction sites in Australia. Construction Induction Training provides persons entering the construction industry with a basic knowledge of requirements under OHS laws, the common hazards and risks likely to be encountered on construction sites and how these risks should be controlled.

The White Card Course (Work Safely in the Construction Industry) is mandatory for employers, self employed persons and workers doing construction work. and must be conducted through a registered training organisation.

The White Card construction course aims to provide basic health and safety education to all people working in the building and construction industry. Attendees will aquire knowledge of:

  • Legislative requirements and responsibilities
  • Basic concepts of Workplace Health & Safety plans and work method statements
  • Physical Building & construction hazards
  • Basic risk management concepts including hazard identification, assessment of risks, control of risks and evaluation of control measures.
  • Hierarchy of controls - eliminate, substitute, redesign, isolate, administrate and the use of personal protective equipment
  • Emergency Procedures

Upon competent completion of the course, you will be issued with a nationally accredited OHS Construction Induction Certificate and a Statement of Attainment. WorkCover will then post all whitecards to their nominated address,
